S.F. Sorrow

this is the first "rock opera" ever released. pre-dating "Tommy", and surely influencing it, this album is largely ignored as far as psychedelic rock goes. But it is definitely worth checking out! The download also features several bonus tracks.

here are three early albums by Animal Collective. the first is called "Spirit They're Gone, Spirit They've Vanished", released under the name "Avey Tare and Panda Bear". you'll find lots of fun stuff in here, lofi-pop-noise type of stuff. very good! next is "Danse Manatee", a slightly more extreme album, of which the word "noise" would more aptly describe. this was released under the name "Avey Tare, Panda Bear, and Geologist". finally is an EP called "Prospect Hummer", which they did with a singer named Vashti Bunyan, an obscure, older folk musician. they're all good!

this is the fifth album from the animal collective, a mostly acoustic set of songs featuring Avey Tare and Panda Bear. coming after the noise of "Here Comes the Indian", this was the beginning of a new direction for the group. i'm really into it right now, check it out!
